You also could have a vacuum leak in the brake booster behind the master cylinder. Check all the vacuum hoses that connect to it for any hissing sound which indicates a vacuum leak. That and also check the steel lines too for severe rust corrosion...if so it might be a good idea to replace them. If all else fails just take it into an auto shop and have them take a look at it.
