Just because its Japanese doesn't mean it needs to be light. The reasoning behind this is the Gentleman's Agreement. Light vehicles with big motors get taxed a lot in Japan. And the Supra back in 1993 for what it was did a good job at everything it was built for. Doing .98G in 1993 was like doing 1.1G now and doing a 13.1 in the 1/4 back then was like doing an 11.5 now.

Yep, they used specially modified 1981 DeTomaso Pantera GT5 as an stunt car. It fitted perfectly, middle engine, low stance and easy to create kit car that looks enough of Ferrari Testarossa.

In the scene with the boxes its a Testarossa, but just in the next shot its the De Tomaso Pantera, recognizable by the black rear bumper and different (i would say ugly) taillights.
